The challenge:
An aggregate producer in Brechin, Ontario wanted to modify
an existing plant to meet the demand of an increased market.
Working closely with the customer, Vandergeest Inc. came up with a design
to accommodate upgrades, overcoming lot size restrictions and increasing
production and aggregate storage capacities, as per the customer’s
specifications. Vandergeest
developed the concept from engineering, to design, fabrication, installation and
commissioning of the following equipment:

Equipment supplied:
·
Two fully encompassed, 36” belt, 167’-6” long transfer
conveyors, able to handle 400 TPH at 350 FPM.
·
A fabricated surge bin with 125 ton capacity.
·
A fully encompassed, 36” belt, 12 feet long transfer conveyor,
able to handle 400 TPH at 150 FPM.
·
A fully encompassed, 36” belt, 16 feet long transfer conveyor,
able to handle 400 TPH at 150 FPM
·
A fully encompassed, 60” belt, 38 feet long transfer conveyor,
able to handle 700 TPH at 350 FPM.
·
A fully encompassed, 48” belt, 113’-6” long transfer
conveyor, able to handle 700 TPH at 350 FPM.

All conveyors were fully encompassed with galvanized
walkway, structural supports, idlers, motors, pulleys, receiving chutes,
ladders, pull cords and stop switches. Vandergeest
has further installed crusher support structures, and structural steel support
for the customer’s 7’ x 20’ three deck screen, complete with platforms,
walkways and stairs with hand rails, along with the customer supplied crushers
and screens.

Conclusion:
The project was engineered, designed and the layout was
approved by the customer, utilizing the above components. Meeting
the delivery dates was key to the success of the project. As
components were fabricated, they were delivered to site, erected and installed
by Vandergeest. The requirements of
the customer were achieved and the project was commissioned on time.
